Getting rid of toiet paper.
So radical.
Hubs and I are considering nixing the toilet paper from the house. It was a final holdout for throw-away products. Here's what I'm thinking:
1. We have a high efficiency front-loader washer and can line-dry;
2. We can get some attractive cotton or flannel wipes off Etsy or from Cotton Babies (I wish I could make my own, but I'm not good with sewing); Or-- what about that towel-like microfiber? Or hemp? Bamboo? What material to use?-- And how many?
3. Considering installing a diaper sprayer on the toilet for hygenic use, like a bidet-wash, they you would just dry off with the wipes. Like this one http://www.cottonbabies.com/product_info.php?cPath=98&products_id=1228 which has an adjustable pressure. It would cut down on the solids mess on the wipes.
4. Where would we put used wipes? I'm thinking into a Diaper Champ with a mesh laundry bag as a liner. I would PLEASE like to do dry pail as opposed to wet pail. The Champ is airtight, but I am TERRIFIED of wet pail.
5. I need an ingenous way to display the clean wipes so they look inviting or attractive. Basket? Cabinet at toilet level?
We already CD and have lots of animals, so I'm pretty desensitized to body-things. But, the moment of truth: cleaning up after guests.
I should leave a roll in there, just in case guests aren't comfortable, right? And maybe I should frame some "instructions".
Now if I could just add this to homemade detergent and get to business nixing the paper towels, we'd be set!

I think a spare roll for guests might be a good idea. Even if they understood what to do, they may just simply not be comfortable with it. It is pretty radical!
On to a different, more pleasant subject -
We should gather together our favorite, best loved recipes and share them periodically. Now that I am at home, menu planning has become a bit of a stress for me.
